AUTOMATEN

9 analogue b/w baryta prints 40x50cm

The confrontation with a camera always leads to a peculiar tension between the photographer and the photographed. But what happens when the operator of the apparatus is replaced by an automaton?
The most common purpose of this endangered device is the bureaucratic process: the biometric photo. A process and an image that dissolves part of the human aspect, the individual. By observing with a second camera the moments before or after this process, when the person is in his full form, for example with glasses, cap or a casual posture, I try to save and make visible the human aspect within the tedious bureaucratic process.
